Univision Los Angeles to Host “Feria Prosperidad” as Part of Univision Contigo’s Hispanic Entrepreneurship Campaign

March 19, 2015 1:45 PM EDT

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Univision Los Angeles today announced Feria Prosperidad (Prosperity Fair), a financial wellness event part of Univision Contigo’s Hispanic Entrepreneurship Campaign, hosted in collaboration with the University of Southern California (USC). Feria Prosperidad is designed to inform and empower aspiring entrepreneurs and families by offering resources on topics such as small business financing, college financing and scholarship programs as well as veteran’s transition resources and immigration consultant fraud. The fair features workshops with continuous classroom sessions, resource booths and two town halls: The Spirit of Latino Entrepreneurship and President Obama’s Executive Actions on Immigration: Avoid Becoming a Victim of Fraud, both moderated by Enrique Acevedo, anchor of Noticiero Univision, together with financial expert and author, Julie Stav.

“At Univision, we recognize that our role extends beyond entertainment. As a mission-driven Company we work to inform, educate and empower our audience to reach their potential via programs like this that allow our community to take those first steps to financial prosperity,” said Luis Patiño, senior vice president and general manager, Univision Los Angeles. “Latinos are starting businesses at more than twice the rate of all U.S. firms, and our community’s need for access to vital information and experts to help them get there is the backbone of these resource-focused events.”

“University of Southern California is proud to partner with Univision in bringing financial information to the Latino community in Los Angeles,” said Thomas Sayles, senior vice president of University Relations at USC. “Economic stability is the key to empowering and building our communities, and we are pleased to be a catalyst in convening these resources.”

In addition to University of Southern California (USC), Feria Prosperidad non-profit participants include Board of Equalization, CA Attorney General’s Office, Cash for College, Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Mexican America Bar Association (MABA), National Latina Women’s Business Association, Orange County Veterans Advisory Council, United Mexican American Veterans of America, University of Southern California and various immigration attorneys. Univision Los Angeles television and radio on-air personalities will be in attendance for the March 21st launch of Feria Prosperidad at the Bovard Auditorium of University of Southern California; as well as Martha Escutia, vice president of University of Southern California’s Government Relations.

Univision Contigo builds on Univision Communications Inc’s more than 50 years of service and engagement with the Hispanic community focusing on four pillars: Education, Health, Prosperity, and Civic Participation.
