SAN JOSE, Calif., July 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: UBNT), a global connectivity technology company, today announced the release of airMAX® ac, a significant evolution to Ubiquiti's fixed broadband wireless technology platform. airMAX® ac features superior processing power, revolutionary active RF filtering technology, carrier-class antennas, and powerful firmware enhancements in airOS® 7 that it easier than ever to deploy and manage high capacity broadband wireless networks.

airMAX ac introduces several breakthroughs including:

  • Proprietary ASIC powering AirMax AC protocol. Ubiquiti's airMAX engine has been wired into custom silicon resulting in dramatic improvements in TDMA latency and throughput. This enables higher capacity network deployments with critical performance advances needed to power the next-generation of IP applications.
  • Revolutionary Active RF-Filtering technology. Ubiquiti's airPrism technology provides breakthrough radio selectivity in unlicensed wireless band performance. The patented airPrism technology allows hi-capacity networks to be deployed seamlessly in even the highest RF noise environments.
  • Advanced airOS Firmware. airOS 7 is the next generation of Ubiquiti's intuitive and versatile firmware technology. airOS 7 now features dynamic configuration changes with enhanced device configuration (such as instant input validation), HTML5 technology, advanced RF analysis tools, a persistent user interface, and optimization for mobile devices.
  • New breakthrough RF performance antennas. The innovative airMAX ac RocketDish™ and sector antennas feature significant advances in efficiency, RF energy isolation, and beam pattern performance to complement the airMAX ac Rocket™ radios.

"This isn't just an update to our airMAX technology platform, but a full-scale overhaul and evolution to the entire platform, and our new custom ASIC provides a significant improvement in latency and scalability," said Ben Moore, vice president of business development at Ubiquiti Networks. "These improvements make airMAX faster, more powerful, and easier to configure, so we can continue to be the best network infrastructure platform for service providers."
