UK Direct Debit Bureau, SmartDebit, Achieves ISO 27001:2013 Certification

This latest standard supersedes ISO 27001:2005, which SmartDebit had achieved previously, and is the recognised international benchmark for Information Security Management.  Certification was achieved following a complete review and audit of all SmartDebit's information and data security processes.

ISO 27001:2013 places greater emphasis on measuring and evaluating how well an organisation's Information Security Management System is performing. This in turn enables organisations to identify risks and implement appropriate controls to reduce those risks.

Added importance is given to providing proactive ongoing data monitoring systems incorporating the areas of: organisation of information security; asset management; access control; physical and environmental security; operations security; incident management and business continuity management.

ISO 27001:2013 revisions have been driven by a need for consideration of changes in technology, outsourcing and increased reliance on data centres and mobile technology which SmartDebit embraces and continuously underpins with robust data security controls.
