U-Haul Unveils Plans for Moving & Storage of Bristol
BRISTOL, Pa., Oct. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul is renovating and repurposing a former Bristol strip mall with the opening of U-Haul Moving & Storage of Bristol at 2683 Durham Road.
The 145,935-square-foot facility situated on 30.7 acres last housed a chain of stores anchored by Pathmark® supermarket, but it has been vacant for many years. U-Haul acquired the property in January and has been serving do-it-yourself movers out of a temporary showroom.
"The plaza has been a source of blight for the Bristol community since Pathmark left," general manager Todj Myers said. "I'm from this community. I watched it constantly switching between owners. It was becoming a black hole until U-Haul stepped up. This is a huge property in an area that is really coming together. Our customers are excited U-Haul is bringing the building back to life rather than knocking it down."
When renovations are completed, U-Haul will offer more than 600 indoor climate-controlled self-storage units, covered load and unload access for indoor self-storage, outdoor drive-up self-storage units, towing equipment and professional hitch installation. U-Haul is currently offering truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies and boxes, U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers and more.
Contact U-Haul Moving & Storage of Bristol at (215) 874-8250 or stop by to visit Myers and his team. Hours of operation are 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Saturday; 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Reserve equipment at uhaul.com or contact Reservations at 1-800-GO-UHAUL.
U-Haul is looking to hire locally to promote job growth within Bristol. Myers expects his store to employ at least 10 full- and part-time Team Members once it is fully staffed. Learn more about U-Haul career opportunities at jobs.uhaul.com.
"The size of this plaza is great because it gives us so many opportunities," Myers said. "We'll have Kar-Go Decal (which prints decals for U-Haul equipment) moving into the old Pathmark space next to our showroom. Plus, we'll have other available spaces, allowing us to invite more businesses back into the area."
The recent acquisition of the Bristol facility was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
U-Haul is a proud sponsor of the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day. The Company is honoring Pearl Harbor survivors and World War II veterans by supporting the events in Oahu commemorating the Dec. 7, 1941 attack.
