Two Prestigious Awards For South Texas Money Management, Ltd.

July 11, 2016 12:05 PM EDT

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, July 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeanie Wyatt, CFA®, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of South Texas Money Management (STMM) has been named by Barron's magazine to their national list of Top 100 Women Financial Advisors (2016). Wyatt was one of ten named from Texas. South Texas Money Management also announced that it was listed to Financial Times Magazine's national list of Top 300 RIAs. STMM was one of 12 firms in Texas named to the FT 300.

Wyatt said, "These rankings are a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our team at South Texas Money Management which is made up of 60 people in our five offices around the state. It is a special honor to be named to the Barron's list, as women have long been a minority in the asset management industry, but we continue to make progress by serving clients in a consistent and professional manner."

The national ranking by Barron's reflects the volume of assets overseen by the advisors and their teams, revenues generated for the firms and the quality of the advisors' practices.

The Financial Times used a formula to grade advisors who submit data based on six broad factors and calculated a numeric score for each advisor. Areas of consideration include advisor AUM, asset growth, the company's age, industry certifications of key employees, SEC compliance record, and online accessibility. Assets under management and asset growth combined comprised roughly 80-85 percent of each advisor's score. The FT invited more than 1500 qualifying RIA companies to complete a lengthy application providing information about them and some 520 companies applied for this distinction. This information was combined with FT's research into the companies' practices, including regulatory findings. FT capped the number of companies from any one state that made the list.

STMM President and Chief Economist, Jim Kee, Ph.D. said, "This is what we do, this is what our investment process intended to accomplish. It is always gratifying to be acknowledged for achieving our goals."
