Twice the Fun Plus One for the Charm City: Spirit Airlines Announces New Flights Connecting Baltimore/Washington With Boston and Detroit

New Flights Twice Daily to Boston, Daily to Detroit Start in April 2016

December 17, 2015 11:53 AM EST

MIRAMAR, Fla., Dec. 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Forget those April showers! Dropping fares are in the forecast for customers in the Baltimore/Washington area this spring. Spirit Airlines will begin twice-daily nonstop service between the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and the Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), and once-daily service to/from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), starting April 21, 2016. So stop paying for other passengers’ checked bags and those little snacks nobody really wants, and save by getting on board with Spirit’s Bare Fares™ with Frill Control™.

"At Spirit, we believe air travelers should only pay for those products or services they want, and not be forced to pay for everything an airline may offer in one bloated total price,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines' Vice President of Network Planning. "That’s why we offer the Bare Fare™ with Frill Control™, giving our customers the transparent choice to save more of their money for things more important than air transportation at home or at their final destination.”

Spirit continues to grow at BWI, with new daily nonstop service to/from Orlando International Airport (MCO) starting next month. With these additions, Spirit will operate nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington to 12 cities, including Atlanta, Boston (starting 4/21/2016), Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit (4/21/2016), Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Myrtle Beach, and Orlando (starting 1/7/2016).

“We welcome this further expansion from Spirit Airlines,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall. “Spirit continues to add ultra-low fare service at BWI Marshall, which means more travel flexibility and convenience for our customers.”

Spirit’s new flights will be available for purchase beginning today. Customers can check out the crazy low fares and vacation packages available to all the destinations we fly at www.spirit.com and also sign up to receive alerts on Spirit’s email deals and offers.
