Treliant Risk Advisors Adds Former Banker, FinTech Innovator, and Regulatory Official Eric Reusch

December 8, 2016 3:25 PM EST

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Treliant Risk Advisors is pleased to announce that Eric Reusch has joined the firm as Senior Director. Eric brings over 20 years of experience in the consumer financial services industry as a former regulator and bank executive, including positions at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Capital One, and GreenNote - a financial technology (FinTech) startup.

“Both FinTech and traditional financial institutions today face greater scrutiny from regulators,” said Treliant CEO Andrew L. Sandler. “Now more than ever, financial services industry companies need to develop strong risk and compliance programs and culture to avoid disruption from regulatory agencies. Drawing on his deep reserves of knowledge from serving in both government and financial services, Eric will be a valuable resource for our clients. We welcome him to the team.”

Eric Reusch joined the CFPB as a founding member in 2011. There, he was Program Manager in the Office of Installment and Liquidity Markets and participated in a wide variety of policymaking activities in student, auto, and installment/small dollar lending.

In the private sector, he has held management roles with companies such as Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, and Citibank. In these positions, his functional areas of focus have included credit policy and risk management, treasury and capital markets, corporate development and strategy, servicing operations and collections, and regulatory compliance. He has assisted large and start-up organizations with establishing and strengthening compliance management systems and corporate governance and controls.

Eric maintains a strong interest in the emerging FinTech sector and the regulatory issues surrounding it. He has been a Principal at QED Investors, a premier venture capital fund with FinTech as one of its focal sectors. As an entrepreneur in 2007, he co-founded GreenNote, the first peer-to-peer lender targeting the private student lending market.

“Eric’s experience working with the CFPB, major financial institutions, and a FinTech startup company puts him in an ideal position to advise effective strategies and solutions for our clients,” said Susanna K. Tisa, Treliant’s Chief Business Officer. “We continue to build a team of strong and diverse talents, and I welcome Eric as its newest member.”
