Top Energy CEOs Honored with Oil and Gas Investor 'Excellence Awards' at 2015 Energy Capital Conference

HOUSTON, March 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Oil and Gas Investor will recognize its Excellence Awards winners including Harold Hamm of Continental Resources Inc. and Jim Volker of Whiting Petroleum Corp. at its Energy Capital Conference  in early April. Both men will give brief remarks Tuesday, April 7, 2015, upon accepting their awards at Hart Energy's 8th annual Energy Capital Conference.

The OGI Excellence Awards honor Harold Hamm, chairman and CEO of Continental Resources, for the year's Best Discovery. The company opened the Springer Shale oil play in south-central Oklahoma, where returns could be significant.

Also honored with an Excellence Award is Jim Volker, chairman, CEO and president of Whiting Petroleum Corp., for M&A Deal of the Year. Whiting Petroleum bought Kodiak Oil & Gas in a $6 billion all-stock deal, which vaulted Whiting to the top-tier position in the Bakken Shale in North Dakota.

All honorees will be acknowledged at the Oil and Gas Investor Industry Dinner.  It is just one of the Energy Capital Conference's networking activities.
