Addison, IL (PRWEB) May 27, 2015

Thybar Corporation's Louisville plant was awarded Kentucky's Governor's Health and Safety Award on May 7, 2015. The award honors outstanding safety and health performance at the workplace. The award was presented to Thybar during the 31st annual Governor's Safety and Health Conference and Exposition held at the Galt House in Louisville.

The Thybar Corporation is a manufacturer of custom sheet metal products serving the HVAC and sheet metal industries for over 55 years. The company has five manufacturing facilities across the country and is headquartered in Addison, Illinois.

In order to be eligible for the award, Thybar needed to have no serious OSHA violations in the past 24 months and, for a company of less than 125 employees, have 250,000 hours without a loss time injury. The Louisville plant's last loss time injury was June 12, 2012. They also had a total of 282,192 hours worked without a loss time injury from that date to the close of 2014, so they more than qualified for the award. The plant received the award back in 2008, as well.

Members of Kentucky's state government were in attendance to honor Thybar and the other recipients. Such members included Larry Roberts, Secretary of Kentucky Labor Cabinet, Larry Bond, Kentucky Governor Beshear's Chief of Staff, and Rocky Comito, Deputy Secretary of Kentucky Labor Cabinet.

Thybar representatives who received the award included Gene Baker, Executive VP, Jim Barmantje, District Manager, and Dave Crouch, Safety Coordinator/Expeditor.

Thybar's President and CEO, Tim Warner, expressed his appreciation of the efforts of the Louisville plant. "Safety has always been a major concern of ours, and I am proud of the efforts the Louisville plant has made to ensure safety measures are met and exceeded. We are hoping to continue our hours without a loss time injury for years to come."

Thybar was one of 40 companies to receive the Governor's Health and Safety award. Last year, between all recipients, there were over 68 million hours without a lost time injury.
