Donation to aid impacted families and clean-up response

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today announced a donation of $200,000 to assist Houston, TX, and surrounding communities affected by heavy rainfall and severe flooding over the Memorial Day weekend. The donation includes $100,000 in Target GiftCards to be distributed by Salvation Army through the Multi-Agency Resource Centers across the state, $85,000 in funds for the American Red Cross to provide food and shelter for impacted families and enable a rapid clean-up response, and $15,000 in Target GiftCards for local organizations to provide essential supplies.

Complementing the monetary donations, Target team members are volunteering their time to contribute to the clean-up and relief efforts as the severe flooding hit close to Target’s home with seven stores and more than 1,000 team members in affected areas. These efforts follow volunteer work and Target’s donation of $125,000 in funds and GiftCards to aid relief in April, after a wave of floods that sent thousands of families to temporary shelters.

“When disaster strikes one of our communities, the Target team’s commitment to help response and recovery efforts is a very personal one, because the impacted neighborhoods are home to our guests and team members,” says Laysha Ward, chief corporate social responsibility officer, Target. “We’re so proud of our team members’ efforts, not only as volunteers, but also in making sure our stores closest to the disaster areas are ready with needed supplies. We're honored to work with such great partners like the American Red Cross and Salvation Army to provide relief and comfort during the response and recovery.”
