Talbot Davis Releases Fourth Bible Study Book

May 3, 2016 8:35 AM EDT

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With the success of his last three Bible study books, Talbot Davis is releasing "Solve" on May 17, 2016, with publisher Abingdon Press. "Solve" will present readers, life groups, and preachers in training with a path that moves them from problems to solutions, giving them valuable takeaways from the book of Nehemiah to use in their everyday lives.

Davis' expertise in developing sermons and studies to lift up Jesus comes from his experience as a long-time pastor. Since the debut of his first Bible study book "Head Scratchers" in September 2015, Davis has also written and published "The Shadow of a Doubt" and "The Storm Before the Calm" with Abingdon Press. In each book, Davis covers stories and lessons that are sure to impact readers and preachers, regardless of their current or past circumstances.

"The response from readers has been encouraging," Davis said. "I want these books to serve several purposes: Give life groups a chance to learn more about spiritual solutions to the problems they face, and to give pastors a chance to dive into a study that can inspire their next sermon."

Daniel Wilson, Associate Pastor of West UMC in Mooresville, NC, recently met with Talbot Davis to facilitate a meeting between Bible study group members and the author. Wilson admires Davis' ability to take difficult sayings and concepts in the Bible and give his listeners and readers the ability to connect them with the modern world.

Wilson says, "The challenge of Small Group success is finding resources that are relevant to where the members are. Many of the folks at West are either new to the faith or early on in their personal walk, and Talbot's books make it easy to dive in because the concepts make sense to everyone." He added, "Talbot's books can be picked up and read in manageable chunks without having to devote hours of time to completing one section."

"Solve" is available in paperback, as an eBook, and in Kindle format. All of his books are listed on Goodreads and are sold through Abingdon Press, Amazon, Books A Million, Barnes & Noble, and more. Readers will be drawn to the message of God's solutions, rather than life's problems. The book follows Nehemiah's footsteps, challenging readers to grow in their faith, and encouraging questions that guide them toward reflection and prayer.

Davis has donated a percentage of profits from the first three books to a charity called On Eagles Wings Ministries and plans to do the same with some of the proceeds from "Solve." OEWM is an Asheville-based outreach ministry and charity that houses, counsels, and restores rescued girls from human trafficking.  "In addition to giving wisdom and hope to readers, life groups and preachers, these books are making a difference in the lives of women who are being rescued by OEWM," Davis says.

Talbot Davis is the pastor of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, a congregation known for its ethnic diversity, outreach ministry, and innovative approach to worship. He has repeatedly been recognized for his excellence in congregational development and has received the conference's Harry Denman Award for Excellence in Evangelism. Since Talbot began serving at Good Shepherd in 1999, average worship attendance has quadrupled, growing from 500 to 2000 each Sunday. Talbot lives in Charlotte with his wife, Julie, and they have two grown children.
