Support for Contemporary Dance and Stage Performance in Quebec City
The Government of Canada supports the creation of the Maison pour la danse de Quebec and the renovation of the Theatre Petit Champlain
QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 05/04/16 -- Department of Canadian Heritage
The Honourable Melanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced $1.5 million in financial support to Groupe Danse Partout, as well as $440,660 to the Theatre Petit Champlain.
This funding, which the Government of Canada is providing through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, will help these two organizations in Quebec City renovate and redesign their respective performance venues and acquire specialized equipment.

-- Groupe Danse Partout is the province's only organization specializing in contemporary dance performance outside of Montreal. Working through its two divisions-the Ecole de danse de Quebec and La Rotonde-it aims to promote the development of contemporary dance, its professionals and its audiences in the Quebec City area. -- By upgrading its three existing studios and adding three more, as well as spaces to support dancers, Groupe Danse Partout, through La Rotonde, is making the creation of its Maison pour la danse de Quebec a reality. -- The Theatre Petit Champlain is administered by Productions Dua and specializes in producing music concerts. It offers a variety of professional performances and promotes the discovery of emerging artists from the Quebec City area. -- The planned building work will help create a better design for the performance hall to improve its acoustics and views; replace seats; and relocate the emergency exits.
