BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Regions Bank today announced that Steve Hartline, a procurement administrator in Birmingham, is the June 2016 recipient of the Regions Bank Better Life Award. Hartline’s nomination for the Better Life Award represented a first for Regions. Often a winner receives a single nomination from a manager or teammate. In Hartline’s case, he received the backing of nearly 40 associates from various business groups across the bank’s footprint in the South, Midwest and Texas.

With oversight of the Regions Company Store, Hartline secures thousands of items on behalf of the company’s 23,000 associates, ranging from promotional pens and pencils, to trademark Regions bicycles and corporate travel packages. Hartline is known for quickly responding to hundreds of weekly purchase orders and for making quality buys.

“Steve is going to take every single request, large or small, and he’s going to take a personal interest to get the best product at the best price and of the highest caliber,” said Tom Twitty, head of Regions Procurement and Business Development. “He won’t put the Regions name on just anything. He’s really concerned that people are getting something that speaks to the values of the company, whether it’s a sucker or a dog biscuit or a hat.”

“I just try to give everybody the best service I can,” Hartline said. “I’m going to treat everybody the same, give them the same level of attention – from the tellers on up to our CEO, Grayson Hall. I was brought up to always give everybody your very best.”

Hartline’s ability to inspire others to give back is as keen as his skill to persuade vendors to give Regions a fair price. For five years running, Hartline’s associate bowling team has raised more money for Junior Achievement (JA) of Alabama than any other group in the bank’s annual charity tournament that benefits the nonprofit organization. JA is dedicated to educating school children about business, economics and free enterprise. Regions will donate $1,000 to JA in honor of Hartline’s Better Life Award recognition.

A video further illustrating Hartline’s dedication can be viewed on the Regions Financial YouTube channel.
