SPRING ARBOR, Mich. (PRWEB) August 28, 2016

For the second year in a row, Spring Arbor University has earned gold-level status based on the commitment to providing on-campus, veteran-centric services to student veterans.

SAU has earned its status as a military-friendly school by honoring the Principles of Excellence for educational institutions set forth in Executive Order 13607. This order, signed April 27, 2012, by the President of the United States, established Principles of Excellence (POE) for any institution serving service members, veterans, spouses, and other family members.

Veterans are afforded space and resources that allow them to study and grow as they transition back to civilian life. Whether they plan to complete their degree at the Spring Arbor, Michigan campus, at one of the learning sites throughout Michigan and Ohio or through SAU Online, SAU's Veteran Resource Office is here to assist veteran students every step of the way.

The Veteran-Friendly School program, created by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, recognizes institutions of higher learning for their dedication to student veterans and dependents utilizing their GI Bill and other educational benefits. This is the program's second year.

Some of the criteria SAU was ranked on included having an active student-operated veterans club or association; veteran-specific career services or advising; on-campus veteran's coordinator and awarding credit based on prior military training and experience.

Information about the criteria each school met to achieve its ranking is available at MichiganVeterans.com/vetfriendlyschools. Only thirty-one schools met all seven criteria.

Student veterans or dependents with questions about GI Bill or other federal benefits should call 800-MICH-VET (800.642.4838) or visit MichiganVeterans.com. For more information on SAU's veteran resources, contact Josh Wymore at Josh.Wymore(at)arbor.edu or 517.783.1290.
