Soleil Would Be Aggressive Buyers of Akorn (AKRX) at Current Levels

June 25, 2008 9:05 AM EDT

Soleil Securities Group is out with a research note this morning highlighting reasons why it would be "aggressive buyers" of Akorn (Nasdaq: AKRX) at current levels. The firm maintains its Buy rating and $8 price target on the stock.

The firm believes that Akorn will achieve several critical milestones by year-end:

  1. Approval for 8-10 additional branded/generic products
  2. Receipt of a potentially sizeable DTPA order from HHS, and
  3. Receipt of clarity from FDA on the clinical pathway for the longer-term vaccine opportunity
Considering that shares of Akorn are down more than 52% year-to-date, compared to a decline of only 6.1% in the BTK, Soleil sees a recovery in shares near-term.

Akorn, Inc. manufactures and markets diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceuticals in areas, such as ophthalmology, rheumatology, anesthesia, and antidotes primarily in the United States.
