PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/11/15 -- VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility, today announced that Socialcast® by VMware, a leading enterprise social collaboration tool, now interoperates with several leading management and DevOps tools to optimize communication and collaboration across various teams within the DevOps process. As a part of the newly-launched Socialcast Integration Store, VMware vSphere® administrators, DevOps teams and developers can now utilize the Socialcast network to create a communication and collaboration framework that brings together people, processes and technologies on one platform to help expedite resolving multi-faceted issues in their IT environment.

Solving complex problems requires collaboration, particularly when multiple players, skill sets and regions are involved. The Socialcast Integration Store brings together alerts from VMware vCenter Server™ along with third-party DevOps applications and services from Airbrake, GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, New Relic and PagerDuty. Administrators and support teams can see and respond to relevant updates side-by-side in the Socialcast activity stream on their preferred device.

The combination of the Socialcast network and these tools empower VMware vSphere administrators, DevOps teams and developers to tackle a variety of DevOps issues. The primary features and use cases include the ability to:

  • Collaborate on issues and alerts in a central location across many of the leading cloud management and DevOps tools
  • Reference previous conversation threads to determine best practices and resources when solving an issue
  • Monitor and take action on incoming alerts and messages from "human or machine"
  • View an intuitive user interface available across device types
  • Determine which alerts, virtual machines and admins to follow and which to mute to avoid information overload and keep only pertinent information in the Socialcast feed
  • Search for relevant information across the company
  • Aggregate data traditionally siloed inside different applications to one central repository

"Socialcast gives employees the power to connect, engage and collaborate across organizations," said Bob Schultz, vice president and general manager, Workspace Services, End-User Computing, VMware. "Now with added tools such as VMware vCenter Server and third-party management and DevOps solutions, it allows administrators to better collaborate across different tools more effectively."

"As enterprises strive to deliver applications faster and increase their uptime in production, collaboration on cloud and data center events is key for fast moving IT operations and DevOps teams to identify and resolve IT issues rapidly," said Mark Lohmeyer, vice president of product management and marketing, Cloud Platform, VMware. "The integration of VMware vCenter Server with Socialcast by VMware provides customers the ability to bring the benefits of social collaboration to virtualization management."

Customers can take advantage of these solutions as a part of the Socialcast Integration Store today.
