Rosie Garcia, Branch Manager in Hialeah, Fla., Receives Regions Bank’s Top Associate Honor

Bank’s high-energy top performer fulfills dream of teaching others to succeed

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Regions Bank today announced that Rosie Garcia, branch manager in Hialeah, Fla., is the September 2015 recipient of the Regions Bank Better Life Award. The Better Life Award is the top honor given to a Regions associate for outstanding dedication and job performance, as well as exemplary involvement and commitment to the community. Garcia oversees operations at Regions’ Gratigny branch located at 1794 W. 68th Street.

In addition to the recognition, Regions donates $1,000 in the name of the recipient to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice. Garcia chose the Miami-Dade chapter of the American Heart Association. She has supported the organization for several years and served as a team captain for last year’s Miami-Dade Heart Walk. Garcia’s family fled to the U.S. from her native Cuba when she was seven years old. She adjusted quickly to life in a new country, a new school and a new language. She dreamed of becoming a school teacher.

“I would line up my dolls, and they would be my students. It was all I ever wanted to be,” Garcia said.

Life took an unexpected turn after the birth of Garcia’s first child.

“My husband lost his job, and I had to enter the workforce,” she said. “I took a temp job at a bank, and they offered me a full-time position. Thirty-four years later, I’m still in banking.”

She may not be in front of a classroom, as she had pictured as a child, but Garcia still impacts lives daily. Each morning she leads her team in a rousing huddle, maintains infectious high energy throughout the day, and constantly shares her expertise on meeting customer’s financial needs.
