Old Saybrook, CT (PRWEB) October 06, 2015

In recognition of Dental Hygiene Month, Drs. James R. McAraw, Mathew S. Cantner and Craig K. Foisie, from River Valley Periodontics & Implant Dentistry, improve the health of their patients by offering laser gum surgery for the treatment of periodontal disease, in Old Saybrook, Waterford or Madison, CT. Patients suffering with frequently bleeding gums, dental discomfort, chronic halitosis, and other gum disease symptoms are encouraged to visit any of their three office locations during Dental Hygiene Month to inquire about whether the LANAP® protocol is a recommended treatment option for their condition.

October is Dental Hygiene Month and Drs. McAraw, Cantner and Foisie urge patients with periodontal disease in Old Saybrook, Waterford or Madison, CT, to honor the occasion by seeking treatment for their condition, improving their oral hygiene. Gum disease is one of the most common oral ailments affecting society, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that approximately half of adults aged 30 and over, in the United States, have been affected by the disease. During the initial stages of gum disease, patients often experience symptoms that may be noticeable, but not necessarily painful. These symptoms may include swollen gums that are noticeably red and bleed easily. If left untreated, the condition may develop to more serious stages, which may ultimately lead to gum recession and significant oral health concerns. Patients are encouraged to receive laser gum surgery treatment when they notice the symptoms of gum disease.

The LANAP® protocol is a laser-based type of gum surgery designed to eradicate bacteria in the gum tissue, without causing unnecessary damage to surrounding healthy gums. The procedure has been proven to cause less discomfort, less bleeding, and less recession than other common treatment methods. The laser utilized in the LANAP® protocol has been cleared by the FDA, with precise accuracy in selectively targeting inflamed tissue. Additionally, treatment with the PerioLase® MVP-7™ laser eliminates the necessity for stitches, allowing for a more expedited and comfortable recovery time.

Patients who believe they may be affected by initial or advanced stages of periodontal disease, in Old Saybrook, Waterford or Madison, CT, are encouraged to schedule an appointment for laser gum surgery during Dental Hygiene Month. Patients can schedule a LANAP® protocol appointment with River Valley Periodontics & Implant Dentistry by calling their office during regular business hours.
