NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
RiskMetrics Group, a leading provider of risk management and corporate governance products and services for global financial market participants, today announced the opening of its annual comment period for its 2009 proxy voting policies. A critical component of RiskMetrics' annual policy formulation process, the comment period allows institutional investors, corporate issuers, and governance constituents to provide feedback on RiskMetrics' policy updates while they are still in draft stage. The comment period runs through October 31 and includes RiskMetrics' U.S. and International policies.

To ensure its voting policies are informed by a broad range of perspectives, RiskMetrics gathers extensive input each year from clients and market constituents through policy surveys, issue-specific roundtables and this unique open comment period. The policy surveys had over 700 respondents, weighing in on issues ranging from board accountability, to executive compensation to sustainability and corporate responsibility. The full results from the surveys are posted to RiskMetrics' Policy Gateway.
