Richard W. Pogue to Become Chairman, Board of Directors, of American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland
Term for New Board Members and Chairman Begins at Annual Meeting Today
CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Richard W. Pogue, respected Cleveland civic leader, will add another line to his resume when he takes the reigns as Chairman, Board of Directors, with the American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland.
Pogue will assume the chairmanship at the Red Cross Annual Meeting today. At present, he is an Advisor (full-time independent consultant) at Jones Day in Cleveland, the law firm he joined as an Associate in 1957, expanded into the international arena as its Managing Partner from 1984 through 1992, retired from in 1994, and rejoined in 2004 following a stint as Senior Advisor to Dix & Eaton, a Cleveland-based regional public relations firm.
In 2005, Inside Business Magazine said of him, "Pogue is this region's consummate insider. There isn't much that goes on in this town, or this region, for that matter, that Pogue hasn't been consulted on, is aware of, or approved of."
Mary-Alice Frank, CEO of the Greater Cleveland Red Cross noted, "We are delighted to welcome Dick Pogue to the chairmanship of our board. I know we will greatly benefit from his counsel and leadership as we navigate the challenging economic environment even as the demand for our programs and services continues to increase."
Ending his tenure as Chairman is Hugh McKay, managing partner of the law firm Porter Wright. McKay will remain as a director with the organization. According to Richard Pogue, "Hugh has been a staunch and loyal supporter of the Red Cross mission since 1990 and he should be commended for this tireless service."
Pogue also expressed gratitude to the retiring board members, including John Butte, David Garratt, Nancy Huber, Mike Kenney, James Kirsch, Bruce Klink, Joe Parent, and Sharon Watts.
Eight new board members will begin their tenure with the Red Cross Tuesday. They include:
