Queens Divorce and Family Law Attorney Bruce Feinstein, Esq. Warns His Clients About Potentials Risks to Domestic Abuse Victims in the Digital Age

Queens, NY (PRWEB) June 30, 2015

On May 27, 2015 the Huffington Post published a piece by San Diego Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins about a new bill proposal that would empower family courts to compel wireless telephone service providers to transfer account rights to anyone wishing to escape situations involving domestic violence. "It would also transfer any phone numbers, contacts, and applications that belong to the wireless number," says Atkins.

"Domestic violence is unfortunately a reality for a large number of people. Most of my clients don't even realize how much the technologies we use every day can exacerbate domestic abuse problems," says Bruce Feinstein. "There are cases where jealous (and sometimes abusive) spouses track their partners with GPS, often times without their knowledge. This is especially problematic in stalking situations and when orders of protection are in effect."

Queens Family and Divorce Law Attorney Bruce Feinstein, Esq. also warns of issues that arise when an abusive spouse will threaten to or actually will interrupt service just to torment the other party.

"I think the bill proposed by Toni G. Atkins is a brilliant one. I also believe everyone should seriously consider the effects their phones and digital information can effect them, their loved ones, and their relationships."
