December 1, 2016 10:00 AM EST

Multimillion-Dollar Investment Will Create One of North America’s Most Advanced Direct Marketing Production Facilities

SUSSEX, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Quad/Graphics (NYSE: QUAD), a leading global provider of print and marketing services, announced today that it will transform its Westampton, New Jersey, direct marketing production plant into a powerful Digital Print Supercenter that will establish a new standard for personalized, high-response direct marketing solutions. The expansion adds new industry-leading technology that will enhance both the efficiency and effectiveness of direct marketers’ efforts to reach individual consumers with superior-quality, hyperpersonalized direct mail pieces on a mass scale.

At the center of Quad’s East Coast Digital Print Supercenter will be two new Hewlett-Packard Indigo 12000 digital presses. With this breakthrough technology, Quad will be able to offer its clients more full-color, high-volume, and cost-effective personalization solutions that engage consumers and spur action. In addition, the Supercenter also will operate several other digital presses as well as offset presses with upgraded inkjet technology, and install two new high-speed letter inserters to enhance lettershop operations.

“Quad is focused on helping marketers drive cost-effective, relevant and targeted print promotions that coordinate with – and boost the effectiveness of – their online marketing efforts,” said Joel Quadracci, Chairman, President & CEO of Quad/Graphics. “The creation of an East Coast Digital Print Supercenter is the next step in the evolution of our direct marketing business. We are primed for long-term success, but more importantly, we are fully equipped to help our clients with best-in-class print quality and achieving one-to-one, data-driven consumer engagement.”

The Westampton facility will continue to manage robust warehousing, kitpacking, fulfillment and distribution solutions, all integrated to offer customers a one-stop shop for ordering, printing and distributing direct marketing pieces, thus improving cycle times and reducing cost.

The entire East Coast Digital Print Supercenter project, including infrastructure upgrades, should be complete by May 2017.

The East Coast Digital Supercenter complements:

  • Quad’s existing Midwest Digital Print Supercenter in Pewaukee, Wis., which will also add a Hewlett-Packard Indigo 12000 digital press before year’s end; and
  • Quad’s Effingham, Ill., direct mail production facility, which recently expanded its personalization capabilities with four-color variable inkjet print modules that are consistent with what the company offers in its Pewaukee, Wis., and Chalfont, Pa., facilities.

The continued expansion of digital print-production capabilities bolsters Quad’s direct marketing platform and enables the company to help its clients maintain their competitive edge. “The pace of improvements in digital print technology is exceedingly fast, and we are at the forefront of using this leading-edge technology so that we continue to create the most value for our clients,” said Tim Ohnmacht, Quad/Graphics President of Marketing Solutions.
