Thanks Rep. Herseth Sandlin for Vote to Stop Government Takeover of Student Lending

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ProtectStudentChoice.org today launched a new online video to urge Senators Tim Johnson and John Thune to protect more than 1200 South Dakota jobs that are threatened by a government takeover of the student loan industry.

The video is available online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zmKEStv-X4

The video thanks Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and other Democrats who voted no on legislation that would replace private student loan providers with a government-run system.

A story in the Sept 18, 2009 issue of the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader noted that Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, D-S.D., was one of four Democrats who opposed the legislation, "citing the potential loss of jobs in her home state."

Protect Student Choice consists of individuals who have dedicated their careers to helping students finance their college education. The Protect Student Choice initiative will inform the American people and Congress about the costs and consequences of the student loan proposals being debated in Washington. Legislation passed by the House of Representatives last month would result in the loss of 35,000 jobs, end choice and competition in student loans, and impose costly demands on schools and universities.
