Pre-Open Movers 7/18: Citigroup (C) Jumps On Smaller Loss; SemGroup Energy Partners, L.P. (SGLP) Sinks On Parent's Possible BK Filing

SemGroup Energy Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ: SGLP) 28% LOWER; has been informed by SemGroup, L.P., SGLP's parent, that SemGroup, L.P. is experiencing liquidity issues and is exploring various alternatives, including raising additional equity, debt capital or the filing of a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.

Pinnacle Airlines Corp. (NASDAQ: PNCL) 17% HIGHER; announced that its Pinnacle Airlines, Inc. subsidiary will continue to fly for Delta Air Lines as a Delta Connection carrier under its existing contract, which expires in 2017. Delta previously served notice that it intended to terminate the contract, effective July 31

Evergreen Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: ESLR) 11% LOWER; reports a Q2 loss of $0.08, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of ($0.10). Revenues for the quarter were $18.1 million, versus the consensus of $22.14 million. Sees Q3 revs of $24.5-$25.5 million, versus the consensus of $26.5 million. Sees Q3 loss of $0.10, versus ($0.08).

Citigroup (NYSE: C) 10.5% HIGHER; reports Q2 loss of $0.49 per share from continuing operations, better than the consensus of a $0.66 loss. Revenues came in at $18.65 billion, versus the consensus of $17.55 billion.

Mattel Inc. (NYSE: MAT) 10% HIGHER; Prevails over MGA in Ownership of Bratz Drawings and better-than-expected earnings.

Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE: BRL) 8.4% HIGHER; Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA) and Barr Pharmaceuticals have signed a definitive agreement under which Teva will acquire Barr, the fourth largest generic drug company worldwide. Under the terms of the agreement, each share of Barr common stock will be converted into $39.90 in cash and 0.6272 Teva ADRs.

Informatica (Nasdaq: INFA) 8% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.17, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.16. Revenues for the quarter were $113.8 million, versus the consensus of $109.91 million.

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) 7.9% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $4.63, 11 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $4.74. Revenues for the quarter were $3.9 billion, versus the consensus of $3.87 billion.

UAL Corporation (Nasdaq: UAUA) 7% HIGHER; JP Morgan upgrades

Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) 7% LOWER; reports a Q2 loss of $0.60, ex-items, 8 cents worse than the analyst estimate of ($0.52). Revenues for the quarter were $1.35 billion, versus the consensus of $1.45 billion. In addition, Dirk Meyer will replace Hector Ruiz as CEO.

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) 6% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.46, 1 cent lower than the analyst estimate of $0.47. Revenues for the quarter were $15.84 billion, versus the consensus of $15.65 billion. Sees Q1 EPS of $0.47-$0.48, versus the consensus of $0.49. Sees FY09 EPS of $2.12-$2.18, versus $2.16.

Verasun Energy, Corp. (NYSE: VSE) 5% HIGHER; UBS upgrades to Buy

Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: ANR) 4% LOWER; Cleveland-Cliffs (CLF) Largest Shareholder Harbinger Capital Is Against the Takeover of Alpha Natural Resources (ANR)

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) 4% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.96, 2 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $9.7 billion vs. $9.22 billion consensus. Honeywell is increasing its previously stated 2008 sales guidance to $37.6 - 38.2 billion and full-year earnings per share to $3.75 - 3.85. EPS guidance does not include the expected gain on the sale of the Consumables Solutions (CS) business. The company expects a gain on the sale of CS in the third quarter, which may be significantly offset by repositioning or other actions. (FY revenue consensus is $37.24 billion and EPS consensus is $3.79)

Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG) 3% HIGHER; expects Q2 EPS to significantly exceed the First Call earnings estimate consensus of $0.91 per share.

Patriot Coal Corp. (NYSE: PCX) 2.2% HIGHER; will replace CBRL Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CBRL) in the S&P MidCap 400

Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) 2% LOWER; Disappointing tech earnings from MSFT and GOOG


Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER) 1.4% HIGHER; reports a Q2 loss of $4.97, versus the analyst estimate of ($1.91). Revenues for the quarter were $4.95 billion, versus the consensus of $3.27 billion. Revenue was impacted by $3.5 billlion from CDOs, and credit valuation adjustment of $2.9 billion. Other losses included $1.7 billion from investment portfolio as well as $1.3 billion from residential mortgage exposure. Net revenues were negative $2.1 billion after adjustments.


International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM) 0.5% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $1.98, 16 cents better than the analyst estimate of $1.82. Revenues for the quarter were $26.8 billion, versus the consensus of $25.92 billion. Re-affirms forecast for the year. Still Sees 2010 EPS $10 to $11.
