BOISE, ID -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/11/09 -- PCS Edventures! (OTCBB: PCSV) today announced the successful implementation of its new Academy of Robotics Labs at multiple THINK Together sites.
THINK Together is one of the largest non-profit after-school organizations in California. PCS has worked with THINK Together for several years and initially implemented a significant number of BrickLabs into the organization's after-school programs three years ago. THINK Together recently received a grant from Edison Electric to increase Math and Science test scores for middle school students. The grant allowed THINK Together to purchase PCS Academy of Robotics Labs, valued at over $170,000, and the labs have now been implemented in 41 middle schools throughout Southern California. Facilitators have finished the professional development training necessary to make the new Robotics program a success.
"Thanks to the generosity of Southern California Edison, Academy of Robotics Labs will now be available to over 11,000 students in our programs at 41 middle school sites during the current school year," stated Randy Barth, Founder and CEO of THINK Together. "The focus of our after-school programs is no longer simply fun and games. When aligned with a child's school day schedule, after-school programs can extend a student's available learning time by up to 50%."
Bill Albert, Vice President of Western Sales for PCS Edventures!, added, "Business, government, and educational leaders are urging a redoubled commitment to strengthen U.S. students' preparation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education. Through the generous contribution from Southern California Edison and Edison International, PCS Edventures! has integrated the Academy of Robotics Labs into THINK Together's middle school and after-school programs. We are excited about this opportunity to provide our STEM learning systems to thousands of students in Southern California."

Announces VSO Support For Lung Cancer Legislation
WASHINGTON, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) salutes all veterans today on Veterans Day and announces the launch of a new webpage with information specifically for veterans on lung cancer -- the leading cause of cancer death among veterans.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20081016/LCALOGO)
LCA also announces that major veteran service organizations (VSOs) have gone on record in support of the Lung Mortality Reduction Act, including AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as members of the Veterans Health Council including Vietnam Veterans of America and Veterans of Modern Warfare.
"We extend our support and best wishes to all veterans on this special day of remembrance and recommit our dedication to improving the earlier detection, treatment and outcomes for veterans who are at higher lung cancer risk than the civilian population," said Laurie Fenton Ambrose, President and CEO of LCA.
The Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act of 2009 is the first bicameral legislation authorizing a comprehensive program on lung cancer research.
Under the bills, which were introduced earlier this year in the House of Representatives and the Senate, three major departments of government -- Health and Human Services, Defense and Veterans Affairs -- would be required to develop a coordinated approach on research, earlier detection, prevention and treatment to reduce lung cancer mortality significantly over the next five years.
Funding for the mission-oriented program would be contingent of the scope and quality of the plan, which would be reviewed annually by Congress to gauge progress and assure accountability.
The bills specifically cite the higher incidence and mortality rates of lung cancer among veterans.
A new webpage on veterans and lung cancer can be viewed by clicking on the U.S. Flag icon on LCA's homepage at www.lungcanceralliance.org.
LCA is an original founding member of the Veterans Health Council and has worked closely with key VSO's on the Independent Budget (IB), the official funding recommendations of these organizations to the VA and Congress.
For the past three years the IB has included a request for funding for a veterans early detection research program.
Lung Cancer Alliance, www.lungcanceralliance.org, is the only national non-profit dedicated exclusively to providing information, support and advocacy for those living with or at risk for lung cancer. Lung Cancer Alliance is committed to reversing decades of stigma and neglect by empowering patients, elevating awareness and changing health policy.

GREAT NECK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Andres F. Alonso, Esq., a partner in the law firm of Parker Waichman Alonso LLP, has been appointed to the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee in the Yasmin and Yaz (Drospirenone) Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2100) currently pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
The Plaintiffs' Steering Committee was appointed by U.S. District Judge David Herndon in an Order dated November 10, 2009. In addition to Mr. Alonso's appointment, Michael S. Burg, Michael London and Mark N. Niemeyer were appointed as Co-Lead Counsel to the Plaintiffs Steering Committee. Judge Herndon also appointed Roger Denton as Liaison Counsel.
More than 100 lawsuits have been filed by women across the United States who claim they suffered strokes, pulmonary emboli, deep vein thrombosis, blood clots, gallbladder disease, and other serious injuries after taking Yaz and Yasmin. Yaz and Yasmin are both made with a type of progestin called drospirenone, making them different from many other oral contraceptives. Drospirenone can elevate the body's potassium levels, which can lead to a condition called hyperkalemia in certain patients. Hyperkalemia may result in potentially serious heart and health problems. Adverse Events reported to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) involving Yaz and Yasmin include heart arrhythmias, electrolyte imbalance, hyponatremis, hyperkalemia, hyperkalemic arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, bradycardia, myocardial infarction, stroke, transient ischemic attack, blood clots, embolisms, and sudden death.
Yaz is the top-selling oral contraceptive in the U.S. Last year, Yaz and Yasmin generated about $1.8 billion for Bayer. Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits allege that these sales were achieved through a marketing campaign that presented the medications as more than mere birth control pills, and touted them as treatments for premenstrual dysphoric disorder, premenstrual syndrome and moderate acne. Bayer Corporation and the other defendants named in the complaints have been warned at least three times by the FDA over misleading television advertisements which overstate the efficiency of Yaz or Yasmin and minimize serious risks associated with the drugs.
On October 1, 2009, all Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits pending in federal court were consolidated for centralized and coordinated pre-trial proceedings in the Yasmin and Yaz (Drospirenone) Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois before Judge Herndon (MDL No. 2100).
The Plaintiffs' Steering Committee will, among other things, conduct and coordinate the discovery stage of this litigation with the defendants' representatives or committee. The Committee will also act as a spokesperson for all plaintiffs at pretrial proceedings and in response to any inquiries by the Court.
Andres Alonso also serves as Co-Lead Counsel in the Denture Cream Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2051) currently pending before Honorable Judge Cecilia Altonaga in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division.
The other members of the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee appointed by Judge Herndon are:
Daniel Becnel A.J. DeBartolomeo Thomas Girardi Arnold Levin Jeff Lowe Roopal R. Luhana Steven Maher Trent Miracle Mark Robinson
Appointments to the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee expire one year from the date of Judge Herndon's order. Appointees to the Committee may apply to be reappointed at that time.
