Even though the grand prize was not awarded Saturday evening, 1 lucky ticket in North Carolina matched all 5 white numbers with the Power Play and won $800,000 cash! Four tickets from the states of Connecticut (1), Missouri (1), Pennsylvania (1), and Tennessee (1) matched all 5 white balls for a win of $200,000 each. In addition, 587,782 tickets across the nation won a total of $6,220,854 in prizes.
Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $102 million!
The cash option for the Wednesday, September 10th drawing will be an estimated $52.1 million.
The numbers drawn Saturday night were 17, 25, 26, 49, 54 and the Powerball was 11. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
Other prizes won Saturday evening included twenty-seven tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Eight additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash!
A total of 109,826 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prizes by 4 Saturday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2 to 5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.
Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.
Players purchased $24,632,277 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.
The lotteries sold more than $2.56 billion in Powerball tickets in FY08. That translates into more than $743 million for worthwhile state projects.
Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the leading global risk and reinsurance specialist, hosted a special briefing for the press attending Reinsurance Rendez-Vous in Monte-Carlo on September 6, 2008. Peter Zaffino, President and CEO of Guy Carpenter, opened the discussion with observations on the unique complexities of today's reinsurance market, followed by additional insights from Guy Carpenter's Chris Klein, Global Head of Business Intelligence, David Priebe, Head of the Global Client Development Group, and Nick Frankland, CEO of European operations.
Peter Zaffino noted that, with the subprime crisis, "we are witness to a new type of catastrophe - the 'financial catastrophe' - with the power to hit both sides of the balance sheet."
He continued by presenting the negative impact of the credit crisis on 2008 six-month earnings results, pointing to reduced investment results that put pressure on underwriters to maximize returns.
Chris Klein stated, "If the credit crisis persists, there could be a post-loss liquidity crunch - particularly for credit." Even with sidecars and cat bonds to supplement traditional reinsurance, Mr. Klein added that "risk transfer is only as effective as the capital behind it."
Turning to market conditions, Mr. Klein pointed out that high retentions by primary insurers have accompanied the soft market conditions. With the frequency of large per risk losses in the first quarter of 2008, together with a string of hurricanes, it means "losses will weigh more heavily on primaries, who may then seek to buy down retentions." He added that "Gustav and Hanna are unlikely to have a major impact on pricing, but Ike could be a turning point."
David Priebe added that the alternative capital market is maturing, not disappearing. He stated, "The market is showing us the difference between capital markets as a source of urgent capacity and capital markets as a source of strategic capacity. Today, we're seeing the latter."
Nick Frankland commented on the European casualty marketplace, noting that risk is becoming harder to isolate as linkages in the business world are replicated in carriers' portfolios. He stated, "Casualty catastrophes, litigation, changing access to cash - it all comes down to disciplined capital management. The industry has to focus on capital first, with every risk-related decision tied back to a capital implication."

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/06/08 -- Rain or shine the people of Philadelphia (and even Mayor Nutter) proved that when it comes to cheering on their favorite team even a tropical storm won't keep them away. From a Giant Pink high heel with wings to a fire hydrant complete with a peeing dog, thirty-four teams swiveled and stumbled their way down the steepest course in Red Bull Soapbox history. It was Swampscott, MA, team Deuces Wild that clinched first place, at 44.7 seconds, with their tricked out baby carriage. Although the booties, bonnets and baby made the soapbox, it was the Michael Jackson impersonator stealing and pushing the stroller that made the crowd roar.
"We flew down the hill like we never expected," said Will Phiel, Deuces Wild's co-driver. "The pouring rain was a non-issue for us," he added as he thanked the crowd in his high-pitched Michael Jackson voice.
Philly's very own team Great Scott was awarded second place with their "Back to the Future" themed car. Third place went to team Wizz Kids from the Philadelphia suburbs with their classic depiction of the Philly Cheesesteak. But the crowd had a voice and People's Choice went to Burlington, VT, locals, team Dr. Strangebox, or better known as "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Soapbox Race." The fastest team on the course was Bank on IT, high school students from Bloomsburg, PA, clocking in at 41 MPH. Teams were judged on showmanship, creativity and speed.
"This is an awesome crowd. These people seem to love the race. The harder it rains the more excited they got and that's pretty sweet," said Corey Blade, youtube celebrity and Red Bull Soapbox Judge.
"Philly heard there was a chance to see people scream down a hill and fly into a wall they said 'Yes we'll be there!'" judge Steve Morrison of WMMR's Preston & Steve Show added.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter even got in on the action taking the Red Bull Soapbox car down the 1,785 ft. course. Although the Mayor made it to the finish line, 8 of the 34 cars skidded and slid into haystacks disqualifying them before reaching the end.
ROAD WARRIORS
The Red Bull Soapbox roads have been braved by many daredevils before. The first Red Bull Soapbox Race took place in Belgium in 2000, and has since visited almost 30 countries including Austria, England, Jamaica and Australia to name a few. The first U.S. event was held in St. Louis in 2006. While there is no limit on imagination, there are still a few rules of the road. All driving machines must be entirely human-powered -- no stored power or external energy sources allowed -- though they must have a braking system. Secondly, all vehicles must be less than six feet wide, less than 20 feet in length and no more than seven feet from the ground. And finally, all soapboxes can have 1 or 2 drivers, but when the crafts reach the start ramp they must weigh no more than 176 lbs.
