Oracle Announces Oracle Retail Cloud Services

Unparalleled Combination of Performance, Reliability, Security, and Modern Functionality Helps Retailers Drive Innovation and Growth

April 8, 2015 8:02 AM EDT

REDWOOD SHORES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/08/15 -- Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) today announced six new Oracle Retail cloud services that provide retailers with rapid access to enterprise-grade applications for managing critical e-commerce, customer engagement, order management, order fulfillment, loss prevention, and brand compliance operations. The new cloud services stem from the MICROS Retail solutions acquired by Oracle in 2014, and they are part of a growing portfolio of retail solutions hosted by Oracle and available by subscription.

As technology and consumer expectations reshape the traditional shopping experience, IT departments must rapidly introduce new business capabilities while maintaining existing systems. Oracle Retail Cloud Services help retailers to ensure uptime and efficiency of key operations, while providing consistent, immediately available upgrades -- enabling internal IT groups to focus on differentiating the customer experience and driving growth.

The cloud services included in the latest update to the Oracle Retail portfolio are Oracle Retail Brand Compliance Management Cloud Service, Oracle Retail Customer Engagement Cloud Service, Oracle Retail Open Commerce Platform Cloud Service, Oracle Retail Order Broker Cloud Service, Oracle Retail Order Management System Cloud Service, and Oracle XBRi Cloud Service.

"Retailers looking for agility, performance, and cost predictability are increasingly considering the cloud," said Jill Puleri, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Retail. "The new Oracle Retail Cloud Services help eliminate the time and cost constraints that too often hamper retailers' ability to respond to new opportunities for growth. Just as important, Oracle Retail Cloud Services allow retailers to focus on their business and work on strategic projects that add value to the business."

Oracle Retail Cloud Services leverage Oracle's expertise in the cloud, security, retail-specific functionality, and networking. They augment the Oracle Cloud, the industry's broadest portfolio of public cloud services across software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), data as a service (DaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Oracle Cloud continues to show strong adoption, supporting 62 million users and 23 billion transactions each day. Oracle Cloud runs on 30,000 devices and 400 petabytes of storage in 19 data centers around the world.

The new Oracle Retail Cloud Services include:

  • Oracle Retail Brand Compliance Management Cloud Service streamlines and automates many of the operations required to grow and improve private-label merchandising operations. Retailers can use the solution to plan, track, and manage merchandising activities, drop shipping, and supplier relationships.
  • Oracle Retail Customer Engagement Cloud Service provides a segmented view of customers, gift registry capabilities, and loyalty program and campaign management tools necessary to acquire and retain customers and to increase conversion rates and basket size.
  • Oracle Retail Open Commerce Platform Cloud Service provides an all-in-one e-commerce solution that includes features such as search engine optimization, site search, and personalization capabilities required to build e-commerce traffic, increase conversion rates, and reduce costs. The service also enables sales and marketing staff to easily build and modify pages, launch or fine-tune promotions, and create user communities around shared interests.
  • Oracle Retail Order Broker Cloud Service provides businesses with real-time visibility of available inventory across all retail channels and distribution centers from any point of service. Store associates and call center representatives can use the application to "save the sale" by quickly and easily finding items in other stores, e-commerce, or warehouse locations.
  • Oracle Retail Order Management System Cloud Service provides online shoppers and call center agents with real-time visibility into ordering and fulfillment, enabling them to verify inventory availability before an order is completed and have accurate expectations for delivery. The solution integrates with other retail operations and business analytics to help retailers increase efficiencies, reduce costs, and accelerate order delivery by streamlining processes and adjusting inventory distribution.
  • Oracle XBRi Cloud Service equips retailers to detect, investigate, and reduce losses from fraud and noncompliance. Loss prevention investigators can use the service to isolate suspicious activity down to a location or register, or an individual, and the business intelligence solution correlates transaction data with other loss prevention methods -- such as time-stamped surveillance videos -- to save research efforts and travel costs while determining whether the issue requires disciplinary or legal action.

Oracle Retail Cloud Services Flex with Retail Businesses Every business is unique and Oracle Retail Cloud Services give retailers greater flexibility to adopt what they need, when they need it as they get more value from legacy systems and shift to next-generation business solutions.

Most important, Oracle Retail Cloud Services provide retail executives with the tools to keep up with today's rapidly changing environment.

"IT departments need to deliver meaningful value to the business in time frames that are measured in months," said Puleri. "Oracle Retail Cloud Services dramatically accelerate deployments and help retail IT executives shift their focus from system maintenance to business innovation."
