Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today that it has reached agreement with the Central Florida Health Alliance on a three-year contract that adds Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital to Aetna's provider network in the Central Florida area. The agreement takes effect Sept. 15.
"Aetna is delighted to announce the addition of these two hospitals to our Central Florida network," said Jim McCunney, Aetna's vice president of network development for Central Florida. "We continue to provide our members with broader access to physicians and facilities in the area. We're hopeful it will help us grow new business and retain existing customers in the area."
Under the agreement, members of Aetna network-based plans will be able to receive covered in-patient and out-patient services, at in-network rates, from Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital.
"We are pleased to now include Aetna in our family of health plans which will allow greater access to many members of our community," said Dale Hocking, senior vice president and chief financial officer for Central Florida Health Alliance. "This relationship will help reduce co-pays for existing Aetna members and encourage the use of our facilities to those who previously would have incurred out-of-network costs as a result of their preference for our Alliance hospitals."
Aetna provides and administers health benefits to more than 225,000 members in Central Florida. Those members have access to a contracted network of 35 hospitals, 1,626 primary care physicians and 4,434 specialists.
The Villages Regional Hospital, part of Central Florida Health Alliance, is a 198-bed acute care hospital located in the heart of The Villages, a nationally-known adult community. Specially designed to bring hospitality to health care, the facility serves the tri county area - Lake, Sumter and south Marion counties.
Leesburg Regional Medical Center, part of Central Florida Health Alliance, is a 309-bed acute hospital with specialty services including comprehensive cardiovascular, neurosurgery, and the only designated stroke center with the Joint Commission Seal of Approval in Lake and Sumter counties.
Aetna is one of the nation's leading diversified health care benefits companies, serving approximately 37.2 million people with information and resources to help them make better informed decisions about their health care. Aetna offers a broad range of traditional and consumer-directed health insurance products and related services, including medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, group life and disability plans, and medical management capabilities and health care management services for Medicaid plans. IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Last night the GOP convention culminated in John McCain's acceptance of his party's nomination, ending a four-day effort to convince the American public that his Presidency is something other than a third Bush term and that he is still the maverick who ran for President in 2000, according to Eugene Hedlund and John K. Addis of TruthandHope.org PAC. Hedlund and Addis say Senator McCain is out of step with mainstream America, for while the nation has cried out for change, voicing disapproval of the Bush Administration in ever-increasing numbers, McCain has instead supported President Bush to a greater degree each passing year.
TruthandHope.org PAC has created a media campaign that with eloquent simplicity brings to the forefront these simple truths. Making this effort possible is the union of two former McCain supporters who actively campaigned on his behalf in 2000, but have found little to no resemblance to the McCain "straight-talking maverick" in the John McCain running for President today. This union of Hedlund, founder of TruthandHope.org, and Addis, graphic designer and creator of "The Public V John McCain" spot, lends a particular credibility to this effort.
TruthandHope.org PAC was founded in 2004 and aired independent grassroots television ads in support of Governor Dean and the Democratic Party's eventual nominee, Senator John Kerry. It raised nearly $500,000 for these efforts, and was credited by Governor Dean for his primary victory in Vermont, as he had suspended his campaign weeks earlier.
The first ad in a series titled "The Public V John McCain" became an instant Internet sensation when released in concept form. Within 24 hours the ad had over 200,000 YouTube hits and hit the front page of Digg.com with nearly 5,000 "diggs" as well as the front page on many prominent blogs across the country. Andrew Sullivan of TheAtlantic.com posted this concept ad on August 14, calling it "the most inspired yet." With this groundswell of support it was evidently clear that this message must be taken beyond the Internet and into the American public's homes. With this spot airing initially in Ohio and Virginia, early voting swing states, the effort begins to set the McCain record straight.
About Hedlund and Addis
Eugene Hedlund is a mortgage broker in Irvine, California who formed TruthandHope.org PAC in 2004. A lifelong Republican, he knew the country needed a change in 2004 and wished to do more than just cast a single vote and contribute monetarily. John K. Addis runs a web and graphic design studio in Lansing, Michigan, and has voted for the Republican Presidential candidate in every election. In recent years, however, Addis became increasingly disillusioned with the Republican party, discovering that Democrats were better at accomplishing fiscal responsibility and showing competence with foreign affairs.

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/05/08 -- CAST, the worldwide leader in Automated Application Intelligence (http://www.castsoftware.com/Product/Application_Intelligence_Platform.aspx), will be presenting a tutorial titled Measuring the Technical Quality of Software at the Systems Level, at the 4th World Congress on Software Quality in Bethesda, MD at 1 pm on September 15, 2008.
The World Congress for Software Quality (http://www.asq.org/conferences/wcsq/index.html), a major international gathering of software quality professionals begun in 1995, has been a partnership of the Software Division of the American Society for Quality, the Software Group of the European Organization for Quality, and the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers.
Dr. Bill Curtis (http://www.asq.org/conferences/wcsq/descriptions/tut12.html), Chief Scientist for CAST, will present a tutorial titled: Measuring the Technical Quality of Software at the Systems Level which describes six trends that are accelerating the importance of software quality in business applications. He will argue that based on these trends, defining quality as the removal of defects is no longer sufficient. Different sources of business value will be related to different aspects of software quality such as robustness, maintainability, security, and other such measures. Different methods for measuring software quality, especially at the systems level, will be presented along with guidelines for their interpretation.
Dr. Curtis co-authored the Capability Maturity Model (CMM), the People Capability Maturity Model, and the Business Process Maturity Model. Until its acquisition by Borland he was Co-founder and Chief Scientist of TeraQuest, the global leader in CMM-based services. He is a former Director of the Software Process Program in the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He previously worked for MCC, GE, ITT, and the University of Washington. He has published four books, over 150 articles, and is an IEEE Fellow.
