Relining the water main is more efficient and less disruptive than a traditional open cut water line replacement process. Crews from SAK in O'Fallon, supported by Missouri American Water crews, will install the new structural liner, which essentially replaces the old pipe. This technology for upgrading water pipelines is relatively new to the St. Louis area.

Missouri American Water will be working primarily in the southbound lanes of Hanley Road during the process. Missouri American Water asks drivers to please be cautious in this work zone.

The project is part of Missouri American Water’s proactive waterline replacement program – a two-year, $100 million plus investment in continued water service reliability.

“As a member of the Metro Water Infrastructure Partnership, this week Missouri American Water supports the Value of Water Coalition’s ‘Imagine a Day Without Water’ campaign at #StLNeedsWater and #ValueWater,” said Frank Kartmann, President of Missouri American Water and the Partnership. “This project is a good reminder that continually upgrading our water system is important to maintaining reliable service – so we don’t have to imagine days without water.”
