"Susan has a great background in the hospitality and restaurant businesses, and we know her skilled touch in the kitchen will be appreciated by diners in our restaurants and our banquet operations," said Press Club General Manager Bill McCarren.

Delbert was trained at the nation's pre-eminent school for Chefs - The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY. She has most recently served as Sous Chef at the Old Ebbitt Grill, the nation's sixth busiest restaurant. She has also worked at Canyon Ranch, a well-known resort in the Southwest and at several Washington-area restaurants. She started in food service in the Clyde's Restaurant Group.

Prior to her career in food service, Delbert had an entire other career -- as a tax attorney. She was a partner in a law firm here in Washington. And, for several years, she practiced law in Alaska and served as an Assistant District Attorney and Assistant U.S. Attorney.

"Everybody has a story, but Susan's is pretty amazing," said McCarren. "Most people who take on two careers don't have time for anything else, but Susan actually was the cook and navigator on a 33-foot sailboat in the Mediterranean for a couple of years so she has really enjoyed life too." Delbert said, "My cooking style incorporates the freshest of local ingredients - often with an Italian or Mediterranean slant - whether it's wild salmon in Alaska or Silver Queen corn here in Washington. The Press Club has a long history of wide-ranging cuisine. I look forward to the opportunity to add some new features to the already fine menus."

The Club's Fourth Estate Restaurant is open to the public - for lunch six days a week and for dinner five nights including Saturday night. Located right in the heart of downtown Washington, the Fourth Estate is a great place to have dinner before the theater or to bring guests who want a real insider's view of the nation's Capital.

The Washington Post's Tom Sietsema has already taken note of Susan's hire in his blog.
