MoneyGram Sends Lucky Cricket Fan to Big-Ticket ICC Matches

England resident named winner of MoneyGram's 2015 Ultimate Cricket Fan contest

DALLAS, Texas (March 23, 2015) (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A lucky cricket fan will be among those cheering in the stands at the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup semifinal and final matches thanks to MoneyGram (NASDAQ: MGI), a leading global money transfer and payment services company.

Amjad Hussain of Birmingham, England, edged out more than 11,000 competitors from 12 countries to win the 2015 Ultimate Cricket Fan contest, the third contest hosted by MoneyGram since it signed on as the official money transfer company sponsor of the ICC.

Hussain not only survived MoneyGram's tough cricket quiz, he also submitted a short video and encouraged his 20,000-plus Twitter followers to vote for him, which ultimately helped him win. The prize package includes all-expenses-paid trips to the 11th ICC Cricket World Cup Semifinals in Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia, and to the final match held on March 29, in Melbourne, Australia — as well as coveted behind-the-scenes access.

The Ultimate Cricket Fan contest was launched by MoneyGram in 2012 to generate excitement surrounding ICC tournaments and to give cricket fans from around the world a chance to see their favorite players in person.
