MoFo: Arrival of Senior Hong Kong Litigator Strengthens Asia Disputes and Investigations Practice

Morrison & Foerster is pleased to announce the arrival of Adrian Yip to the firm's Hong Kong office as a partner in the Commercial Litigation Group. Mr. Yip is a seasoned litigator with nearly 25 years' disputes experience in Hong Kong and Greater China. His practice focuses on Hong Kong-and China-facing cross-border disputes and complex commercial litigation.

Mr. Yip, who conducts matters in English and Chinese, has deep experience in asset recovery, corporate restructuring and compliance, internal investigations, and intellectual property and licensing disputes. He has represented clients in international arbitrations before various arbitral bodies, including the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). Mr. Yip also has experience in contentious matters involving competition law, criminal prosecutions, shareholders' disputes, and FCPA-related investigations, and has advised financial institutions on Hong Kong regulatory matters and represented international parties in cross-border complex class action litigation.

Additionally, we are pleased to welcome three experienced disputes associates, Cliff Mok, Gary Yu Zeng, and Jessica Chan, who will also be joining Morrison & Foerster with Mr. Yip. Adding significant depth and experience to our Hong Kong disputes team, together this trilingual (English, Cantonese and Mandarin) group has more than fifteen years of experience in Hong Kong disputes and complex cross-border arbitration and investigation matters.

Mr. Yip's arrival follows the relocation from the firm's Tokyo office by Craig Celniker, who joined litigation partner Timothy Blakely in the Hong Kong office in 2013 to lead the firm's rapidly growing Asia Disputes & Investigations Practice. Mr. Celniker, chair of the Asia Disputes & Investigations Practice, and head of the firm's International Arbitration group, has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation and arbitrations, with a particular focus in intellectual property matters. Mr. Blakely, a partner in the firm's Securities Litigation, Enforcement and White-Collar practice, relocated to the Hong Kong office in 2011. His broad-based practice focuses on China and Asia regional investigations, government enforcement, compliance, and FCPA and anti-corruption matters.

Mr. Yip joins Morrison & Foerster from Winston & Strawn's Hong Kong office, where he was the head of the firm's Asia Litigation practice. He is recognized as a leading lawyer in dispute resolution in China and Hong Kong by Chambers Global and Legal 500 Asia-Pacific, and was recognized as a "Star Litigator" by Benchmark Asia Pacific. He received his LL.B. degree from Hong Kong University in 1988 and his Post-Graduate Legal Certificate from Hong Kong University in 1989.
