West Allis, WI (PRWEB) April 20, 2016

The Milwaukee based Law Office of Rollie R. Hanson, S.C. is pleased to announce that Founding Attorney Rollie R. Hanson recently participated in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) 18th Annual Wisconsin Chapter Workshop. The event took place from January 21-22 at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

The NAELA's annual program drew in attorneys from across the state of Wisconsin to engage in an intensive dialogue regarding issues related to Alzheimer's disease and new law changes effecting elderly citizens. More specifically, the program explained how the Alzheimer's epidemic is effecting thousands of elderly individuals around the country and Wisconsin has taken the lead in developing programs for those in senior facilities and their families. Doctors were among those presenting this segment.

The program also covered updates and current issues pertaining to the laws governing trusts, Medicaid, and the Estate Recovery Program. Under Estate Recovery Rules, if you receive Medicaid and then pass away the State of Wisconsin can seek reimbursement from your estate. If you own a home when you pass away it can be used as reimbursement of funds to the state (unless you have a spouse that inherits the house).

"This program was a great educational and networking opportunity where I was able to gain insight into current issues around the state within the elder law arena. These crucial issues are impacting thousands of individuals in Wisconsin and the more we know, the more we can help," says Founding Attorney Rollie R. Hanson.
