Michael Strautmanis to Address Thousands of Local Leaders During San Antonio Conference

Chief of Staff to Valerie Jarrett to Speak on Behalf of Obama Administration

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Michael Strautmanis, Chief of Staff to the Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Engagement, will address delegates attending the National League of Cities' (NLC) 2009 Congress of Cities & Exposition in San Antonio tomorrow. Strautmanis will speak to attendees on behalf of the Obama Administration.

Also addressing delegates during the opening general session will be Kathleen M. Novak, NLC President and mayor, Northglenn, Colo. During the five-day conference, held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, municipal officials will participate in discussions and educational sessions on public finance, infrastructure, sustainability, public safety and economic development.

Later in the week, attendees will hear from William Freund, chief economist emeritus of the New York Stock Exchange, Ed Begley Jr., actor, author and environmental activist and Doris Kearns Goodwin, political author and historian. Additionally, Alejandro Mayorkas, Director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services, will discuss what citizenship means to cities.
