Metropolitan's First-Ever Spring Green Fair to Feature Latest in Sustainable Products, Technology

Metropolitan Water District:

WHAT:         Metropolitan Water District will host a first-of-its-
               kind Spring Green Fair highlighting latest innovations
               in green, sustainable technology and products for
               homes, gardens, businesses and industry.

WHEN:         9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 21

WHERE:        Courtyard, Metropolitan Water District headquarters, 700
               N. Alameda St., adjacent to historic Union Station,
               downtown Los Angeles (Los Angeles County Thomas Guide
               page 634, G/H-3)

PARTICIPANTS: More than 50 exhibitors offering information on
               California Friendly, native plants; graywater recycling
               systems, solar power for homes; rainwater harvesting;
               fences, gates made of recycled materials; wood-plastic
               composite lumber; solar electric or photovoltaic (PV)
               systems; on-demand hot water; and green plumbing.

BACKGROUND:   Earlier this year, Metropolitan's Board of Directors
               adopted a sustainability initiative that serves as the
               basis for the Spring Green Fair. The initiative centers
               on four efforts--green procurement, energy
               conservation, green facility management and waste
               reductions.

              Workshops topics include How to Design a California
               Friendly Garden, Wastewater to Reliable Water-
               Technology that Works, Introduction to Residential
               Green Renovations, and tools, models and ideas for
               building a green home.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving 18 million people in six counties. The district imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies, and helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other resource-management programs.
