Mesothelioma Organization Launches New Store

Last week, the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation) introduced its new store run by GoodThreads. The store can be accessed by visiting http://www.curemeso.org/store.

"Our new store features a variety of products and designs, many of which are customizable. The best part: whenever a product is purchased, the Meso Foundation receives a $5.00 donation," said Beth Posocco, Meso Foundation's communications associate and the project manager behind the switch.

"Many of our available designs allow users to customize them by inserting a name or a photo of the individual they wish to honor or memorialize. Similarly, our third-party event organizers can customize their products with their event's theme and name," she added.

Products are available for both men and women, including standard t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, pullover and zip-up hoodies, micro performance t-shirts, v-neck t-shirts, polo shirts, and more.

Products are available in a variety of colors as well, many of them in blue to support the Foundation's campaign for Mesothelioma Awareness Day, which is coming up on September 26 and which invites supporters to "paint the world in mesothelioma awareness."

With the new store, the Meso Foundation hopes to raise mesothelioma awareness and funds. The donations made via product purchases will go toward the organization's peer-reviewed mesothelioma research grant program, education and prevention programs, patient and family support programs, and advocacy efforts.

"Although many people have heard the word 'mesothelioma,' most don't really know what it is. We hope this new merchandise will prompt questions and provide our supporters with the opportunity to educate anyone who asks about it," said Maja Belamaric, the director of communications for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.

Mesothelioma is a malignant tumor of the lining of the lung, abdomen, or heart known to be caused by exposure to asbestos. Medical experts consider it one of the most aggressive and deadly of all cancers. An estimated one-third of those who develop mesothelioma were exposed while serving in the Navy or working in shipyards.
