Medical Properties Trust Announces Public Offering of $400 Million of Senior Notes Due 2024

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Medical Properties Trust, Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE: MPW) announced today that its operating partnership, MPT Operating Partnership, L.P. (the “Operating Partnership”), and MPT Finance Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Operating Partnership (“MPT Finance”), intend to offer, subject to market and other conditions, $400 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes due 2024 (the “Notes”). The Notes will be senior unsecured obligations of the Operating Partnership and MPT Finance, guaranteed by the Company.

The Operating Partnership intends to use the net proceeds from the offering of the Notes to repay borrowings made under its revolving credit facility. BofA Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Wells Fargo Securities, Goldman, Sachs & Co., J.P. Morgan, and KeyBanc Capital Markets will act as joint book-running managers for the offering of the Notes. BBVA, Credit Agricole CIB, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank Securities, MUFG, RBC Capital Markets, Stifel and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey will act as co-lead managers.

The offering of the Notes will be made under an effective shelf registration statement of the Company, the Operating Partnership and MPT Finance.
