MIAMI, Aug. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Mexicans Pedro Joaquin Coldwell, secretary of Energy, and Guillermo Ortiz Martinez, economist, politician, former secretary of Finance and chairman of Banorte, will be presented with two of the Latin Trade's 2015 BRAVO Business Awards.

Pedro Joaquin Coldwell will receive the BRAVO Award as 2015 Transformational Leader of the Year, and Guillermo Ortiz will be bestowed with the 2015 Legacy Award. Latin Trade Group, the leading provider of information and business services to companies operating in Latin America and the Caribbean, announced these winners today, and they join the list of six corporate winners and head of state, Horacio Cartes, President of Paraguay who were announced in the past weeks.

Secretary Coldwell will be recognized at the company's signature event, the BRAVO Business Awards, on October 29, 2015 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami. The Legacy Award will be presented to Guillermo Ortiz, in special ceremony on October 28 in Miami. This year, the BRAVO Business Awards are celebrating 21 years recognizing excellence in leadership in the region.

"The selection of two Mexican winners comes at a moment when this country has gained a tremendously strong competitive position in many industries, thanks to government action, and also to the audacity and deftness of their businessmen, who are no doubt, becoming a class of their own in Latin America," said Maria Lourdes Gallo, Managing Director of the Latin Trade Group.

Transformational Leader of the Year The winner of the 2015 Transformational Leader of the Year Award, Pedro Joaquin Coldwell had a key role in the design, the approval and the implementation of the energy reform, the first and most profound Mexico has seen in more than seven decades, and perhaps the most important reform after the signing of Nafta twenty years ago. The reform will not only open the oil and gas market to private investors, but also the electricity market, benefiting fiscal accounts and all Mexicans through employment, and lower prices.

The Legacy Award Guillermo Ortiz Martinez will be honored with the 2015 Legacy Award. He was chief negotiator of Nafta, undersecretary of Finance, secretary of Transportation, and governor of the Mexican Central Bank. On the international front, his trajectory as a shaper of world financial order, and stability is equally impressive. He served on the board of the IMF, the World Bank, the IDB, the Bank for International Settlements, among others and has been a permanent participant in IMF's advisory groups. He is a member of the highly influential Group of Thirty.
