LISLE, Ill., May 02, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Krakus, “The True Imported Polish Ham”, is donating $10,000 to the Polish American Congress of Eastern Massachusetts to help them rehabilitate Pulaski Park. The donation commemorates one of the most important holidays in Polish history, Polish Constitution Day, and meets the organization’s fundraising goal for the restoration of Pulaski Park.

Krakus, “The Official Sponsor of Polish Fest”, made the donation during a special presentation Sunday at Polish Fest Boston. Faye Shroff of Krakus presented a check for $10,000 to Mark Wisniewski of the Polish American Congress of Eastern Massachusetts.

“Krakus has been a part of my life since I was a little kid, when my grandma used to make it,” said Mark Wisniewski, Vice President, Polish American Congress of Eastern Massachusetts. “It’s a great honor to be recognized by Krakus and presented with this donation.”

The donation highlights a month-long celebration by Krakus, honoring Polish Fest and the rich history and contributions of Boston's Polish community. The Krakus “Ham Train,” which has been rolling through Boston since April, brought the authentic taste of Poland to the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority. One of Boston’s Red Line trains is wrapped in imagery reminiscent of Krakus ham.

"Krakus takes pride in the significance of Polish history and tradition," said Michael J. Sargent, Senior Brand Manager, Krakus. "We are excited to present the Polish American Congress with this donation to Pulaski Park. We know it will help create a place where families can celebrate and come together."

Pulaski Park is adjacent to the Polish American Citizens Club building on Boston Street. Rehabilitation plans include adding flagpoles flanked with commemorative plaques and a new landscape design.

Krakus is committed to supporting the Polish community. In 2015, Krakus supported Chicago’s Taste of Polonia festival, celebrating becoming the #1 deli ham in Chicago. Krakus donated $10,000 to the Copernicus Foundation, a non-profit organization serving Chicago since 1979.
