New York, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2016

John Mayer can add laundry aficionado to his list of passions. The Grammy Award-winning artist has partnered with the global eco-friendly detergent, fabric care, and home cleaning company, The Laundress, to create a product line benefiting the Montana Association of Land Trusts (MALT).

The Laundress co-founders Gwen L. Whiting and Lindsey J. Boyd worked alongside John Mayer to create two products inspired by Mayer's home state of Montana. The Laundress X John Mayer Laundry Detergent (Retail Price $19.00) and Fabric Fresh (Retail Price $16.00) will be sold exclusively at The Laundress SoHo flagship store at 199 Prince Street in New York City and online at http://www.thelaundress.com. Fifty percent of the proceeds from sales will go directly to MALT and its conservation efforts.

The relationship with Mayer began with a social media shout out from the musician when he revealed that he used The Laundress products to handwash his favorite white t-shirts. This ultimately laid the foundation for a unique partnership. The three soon came together and discussed a mutual passion for textiles as Mayer revealed his affinity for the art of indigo dying, his favorite street style sources, and his museum-worthy, private vintage archive collection. Together the trio developed The Laundress X John Mayer, which celebrates this shared affection for textiles, as well as a commitment to their care and preservation. The curated fragrance, OUT WEST, is the ultimate fresh, clean laundry smell of crisp, powdery notes with rich undertones of sandalwood, leather, and amber surrounded by spice, patchouli, and musk that captures the spirit of the American West.

"When I discovered The Laundress products, I thought the ethos of their take on laundry really intrigued me," said John Mayer. "They've elevated it from a chore to something more engaging. Their product, their packaging, and their messaging really appealed to me, and before long, I was educating myself on fabric care in a way I wished I had years ago. Everyone who has a passion for clothes should get into maintaining them."

"I only collaborate on projects that I have a true affinity to," Mayer went on to say. "I don't think I could follow through on the process otherwise. Developing OUT WEST with Gwen and Lindsey has been an organic and exciting experience, and the final product has such a great spirit about it. It's a fun collaboration, it's a great product, and it's for a very worthy cause."

"When we first met, it was surreal to be having such technical conversations about textiles with John, as if he was an industry native, which made this an obvious collaboration," said Gwen L. Whiting and Lindsey J. Boyd, The Laundress co-founders. "This partnership has given us the exciting opportunity to explore outside of our laundry room and draw new connections to the art of doing laundry in the spirit of the West."

"Montana land trusts are pleased and excited to partner with The Laundress and John Mayer on the OUT WEST collection," said Montana Association of Land Trusts (MALT) executive director Glenn Marx. "It's a perfect marriage of environmentally-friendly laundry products with a Montana resident who greatly values the essence of the state and a conservation organization that will utilize proceeds from product sales to leave a legacy of wide open spaces for Montana's fish, wildlife, residents, and visitors. Sales from the OUT WEST collection will help MALT ensure Montana's incredible landscape continues to inspire awe in future generations."
