McDONOUGH, Ga. (PRWEB) April 02, 2015

James G. Houston's late brother John became his source of inspiration throughout his life. Despite growing up from a very poor family, theirs is one rich in love. Houston chronicles the story of his life in "Growth of a Man" (published by Xlibris).

Houston was once a little boy who was introduced to the streets and sex at a very early age. However, his older brother guided him towards the right direction. They both worked hard and persevered to help their family in any way they could. After Houston finished college, he and his brother both joined the New York City Department of Correction. They became ranking officers and retired after 20 years of service. From his life experience, he grew up to become a strong, positive, respectable black man who led his family to a better way of life.

"This book is about changing ones views, how a man evolved," says Houston. "It has substance that challenges young men's thought process, possibly preventing them from making mistakes that many men make."

A remarkable true story of a man who overcomes obstacles to make a better life for his family, Houston hopes that by reading "Growth of a Man," readers will understand that a positive outlook on life can make a tremendous difference no matter how things look from the onset.
