FOLSOM, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/28/16 -- The California Independent System Operator (ISO) Board of Governors today appointed five members to the western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) Governing Body following an extensive vetting process that began in January by the EIM Nominating Committee.

The Governing Body members are from throughout the West and represent diverse stakeholder sectors. The following were appointed to staggered terms:

  • Valerie Fong for a term beginning July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019

  • Doug Howe for a term beginning July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018

  • Carl Linvill for a term beginning July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018

  • John Prescott for a term beginning July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019

  • Kristine Schmidt for a term beginning July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017

The EIM charter calls for the ISO Board to approve the initial Governing Body in open session, but all future nominations will be approved by the EIM Governing Body. As this is the first Governing Body, the ISO Board assigned one-, two- and three-year staggered terms by randomly drawing names from a container.

In related agenda actions, the Board established the Governing Body compensation rate and structure, and separately approved the Services Agreement. Also approved was an update to the ISO Open Meetings Policy that requires the EIM Governing Body to comply with the same legal duties as the ISO Board.
