PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. (“CBA”) (Nasdaq: BREW), a leading craft brewing company, today announced that it was named “Craft Beer Company of the Year” by Hooters of America, a leading national restaurant chain with locations across the country. The award underscores CBA’s strong partnership with Hooters and specifically recognizes the successful launch of a special 2015 summer promotion featuring Kona Brewing Company’s Big Wave Golden Ale, one of the fastest-growing brands in the craft beer category.

“Hooters of America is committed to offering our guests the best beer selections possible. Kona Big Wave Golden Ale was a huge hit with our guests as they enjoyed our world famous wings. The team at Craft Brew Alliance delivered an extremely well-planned and relevant program that was easy to execute and had excellent local support from their distributors. This recognition reflects their exceptional service and commitment to our partnership,” stated Bruce Skala, Vice-President of Marketing and Beverages for Hooters of America.

“We are incredibly passionate about creating successful beer programs that support our key national partners like Hooters of America, while bringing great craft beers like Kona Big Wave to more consumers,” said Peter Schauf, Vice President of National Retail Sales, CBA. “The entire team at Hooters provided exceptional support throughout the Kona Big Wave Summer Program, and it’s an honor to be recognized as their ‘Craft Beer Company of the Year.’ We look forward to continuing to partner with them on exciting new programs in the future.”

Since its debut on the mainland in 2012, Kona Big Wave has been recognized for its distinctive tropical aroma and citrus hop blend. In 2014, the North American Brewers Association awarded Big Wave a gold medal in the light ale category. A year earlier, the beer won top honors in the U.S. Open Beer Championships, Great International Beer and Cider Competition, and International Brewing Awards.

CBA leverages its national sales and marketing capability to build robust partnerships with leading retailers across the U.S. Through delivering data-driven insights and creative channel development programs, CBA works with its retail partners to bring pioneering craft beer brands like Kona Brewing Co., Omission Beer, Widmer Brothers Brewing, and Redhook Brewery to life for consumers.
