Hong Kong Electronics Fair, ICT Expo Open With Eye To The Future

HONG KONG, Apr 13, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - A number of the world's leading technology brands are taking part in the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) and concurrent International ICT Expo which opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the twin fairs continue for four days with more than 3,300 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions taking part. Industry heavyweights such as Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Polaroid, Intel and Ford have brought their unique products and expertise to this year's event.Getting ConnectedThe 12th Hong Kong Electronics Fair, the largest Spring electronics event in Asia, has attracted almost 2,800 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions. It features three new zones that spotlight the latest advancements in a connected world. The new Wearable Electronics zone includes more than 40 exhibitors of high-tech products including watches with exercise tracking, entertainment and health-related functions.Another debut zone is Connected Home which provides a glimpse into the future with the application of Internet of Things (IoT) in the home environment. Another new zone is Unmanned Tech which features remote-controlled gadgets such as airborne cameras and drones. Meanwhile, the In-Vehicle Electronics & Navigation Systems zone returns to the fair with state-of-the-art audio visual systems, sensors and GPS instruments that enhance the driving experience.Famous NamesOnce again this year, the Hall of Fame has attracted many of the biggest names in the tech world. More than 430 exhibitors and some 570 leading brands are on display, featuring such heavyweights as Bigben, Coway, Ford, Hyundai, Intel, Motorola and Polaroid. For the first time, Microsoft has a presence at the fair's Exhibitor's Showroom introducing its latest Windows devices, including smart phone, tablets and embedded systems. The latest unique products from Asia can be found at the Invention Zone where more than 20 innovations from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, Korea and Taiwan are on display.Tech TalkA variety of seminars are taking place during the Electronics Fair. Today's seminar is entitled "Latest Innovation in Consumer Electronic Products" with discussions on the Apple Watch, wireless charging and smart homes. There will also be seminars on such themes as "Wearable Electronics are in Vogue" (14 April) and "3D Printing - Shaping a Better Life" (15 April). Product demonstrations, launches and buyer's forums are taking place throughout the fair period.The ICT AdvantageThe concurrent International ICT Expo is devoted to exploring the latest ICT solutions and products that help SMEs sharpen their competitiveness. This year's event gathers almost 600 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions. There are six pavilions this year, coming from Australia, Canada, the Chinese mainland, India, Korea and New Zealand.A new "iStartup@HK" area has been launched this year by the Office of Government Chief Information Officer to promote the innovative projects from over 20 local start-ups.
