HS-UK announce a new innovation in IOL calculation - the Hill-RBF Calculator

Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, is delighted to announce the release of the Hill-RBF Calculator which is available exclusively on the LENSTAR biometer.

The Hill-RBF Calculator is not a formula but a new method for IOL power selection which improves refractive accuracy. It is a purely data-driven IOL calculation method incorporating artificial intelligence, pattern recognition and a boundary model, for improved accuracy and confidence. Unlike older, static theoretical formulas, this approach will be continually updated, increasing the overall accuracy.

The Calculator works for all biconvex lenses from +6DS to +30DS. It is able to tell a user when a calculation is accurate and when care should be taken because of biometry parameters that do not allow accurate IOL prediction. Clinical trials have presented excellent results on all eye lengths and show that the Hill-RBF method may even outperform the current, most advanced theoretical formulae.
