Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 29, 2016

An article published June 22 in the Los Angeles Times follows the lives of young immigrants, often referred to as "Dreamers," and their future education and career plans. The article goes on to explain how many of the college-age immigrants whose plight has received a great deal of public discussion are planning on going to universities in order to eventually improve their economic situations in their own lives, as well as for their loved ones. Los Angeles immigration lawyer Henry Posada notes that immigrants, young and old, not only improve the lives of themselves and their families but they make an enormous contribution to this country as a whole. Therefore, especially in light of recent changes in the legal climate with respect to immigration, it is crucial that they take advantage of the services of experienced immigration attorneys who can recommend the best legal action to take in order to ensure protection. Mr. Posada goes on to describe some of the legal services that remain available to immigrants:

Temporary Protected Status - Oftentimes, the conditions of a country devastated by civil war, environmental disasters, or a variety of other reasons can be designated for Temporary Protection Status by the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Posada notes that immigrants who are currently residing in the United States and come from countries under TPS may qualify for protection and rights such as, employment authorization, travel authorization, as well as protection against removal from the United States. Mr. Posada goes on to note that immigrants are able to continue to thrive and contribute to a country that offers them protection.

U Nonimmigrant Status - In the event that an immigrant is the victim of certain criminal activity, Mr. Posada notes that they may be eligible to qualify for a U Nonimmigrant Visa. This offers the victims of certain crimes who are willing to contribute to the investigation and prosecution of a criminal with protection from removal of the United States, notes Mr. Posada.

Lawful Permanent Resident Status - An immigrant granted lawful permanent residence status (green card) can live and work in the United States without fear of removal. The Los Angeles based immigration lawyer goes on to note that the process can be granted through family, employment, and business based petitions. By obtaining lawful permanent resident status through the avenue best suited for the individual, an immigrant can continue to make important contributions and improve the lives of their families and loved ones.

Naturalization (the process of becoming a U.S. Citizen) - Foreign nationals who successfully become U.S. citizens through naturalization are free to vote and are granted permanent protection from deportation. While naturalization is ideal for an immigrant to live, work and legally participate in the United States without being at risk for removal, the process can be daunting and difficult for the individual to apply for without proper legal counsel. Mr. Posada goes on to note that, with the right guidance, immigrants must attempt to get on to the right legal path from the outset with the proper counsel, bearing in mind the ultimate goal of officially becoming citizens of the United States and continuing to thrive with the help of the valuable opportunities that America offers.
