San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 08, 2015

Fortress Data Centers today announced the opening of its San Francisco data center and Meet-Me Room to support the growing demand in the San Francisco market for outsourced colocation and business continuity solutions. Fortress Data Centers, located at 274 South Brannan Street, offers immediate access to eight on-net providers with easy access to at least a dozen or more on the old railroad tracks adjacent to the building. The Phase 1 opening of the colocation facility delivers up to 5,000 square feet and 1 megawatt of power with the capability to scale exponentially based on customer demand.

"Fortress provides our customers with the experience and flexibility required to fulfill today's Data Center solutions." said Sean Aubert, Founder & President of Fortress Data Centers. "The site offers a very unique solution in the data center market of San Francisco South of Market ("SOMA") market that is thriving with new and growing companies. IT decision makers have become savvier in the design and distribution of their infrastructure and we feel this location positions us to offer clients the features and value that will satisfy the colocation and network requirements of the thriving tech community in San Francisco. Many companies have expressed the desire to have options closer to their offices for traditional colo, lab space, back office infrastructure, and test/dev deployments as an alternative to the Valley."

Offering 105,325 square feet of rentable space, 274 Brannan is a six-story data center, telecommunications and office building centrally located along the Second Street Corridor within San Francisco's vibrant SOMA District. Built in 1923, the former Hawley Terminal Building initially served as a storage facility for the Southern Pacific Railroad. The property at 274 Brannan was converted into a telecom switching building in 1982, utilizing its ideal location to two primary fiber network loops. Since the building offers substantial power supply and large floor plates with load-bearing capacity for heavy equipment, transitioning to data center tenants was a natural evolution for 274 Brannan.

Today, 274 Brannan is known as the "Fiber Depot" and attracts a diverse group of telco and data center tenants, with the remaining space leased to office and retail tenants. Ownership completed a cosmetic upgrade in 2008. Additional upgrades were performed in 2010 to meet the increasing demand for data center space and increase Fortress Data Centers' ability to offer aggressive rates, scalable solutions, and flexible terms to clients with IT needs large and small.
