Flood Services Canada, the GTA's Leading 24-Hour Response Team, Announces Five Tips for Preventing Spring Basement Flooding

Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) April 28, 2015

Flood Services Canada (http://www.FloodServices.ca), the Greater Toronto Area's leading 24-hour emergency flood, fire, and smoke damage restoration response service team, is announcing five expert tips on how to prevent spring basement flooding.

"Rain is definitely something homeowners have to consider when thinking of ways to protect their homes from floods," says Chad Vanvari, owner of Flood Services Canada. "But rain is not the only cause of flooding, so we've outlined ways to prevent basement floods in the spring."

Vanvari says the first tip is to keep gutters clean and free of any debris. "Storm water should be drained at least three feet away from the foundation to prevent water pooling near your home. Adding an extension to gutters may be necessary."

The next tip is to ensure there are no cracks in the home's foundation, basement walls, or floors. If any cracks are present, Vanvari advises homeowners to have them sealed immediately.

"Having sewers and septic tanks inspected and cleaned is another great tip to prevent spring basement floods," Vanvari continues. "Also, using clear window well covers helps keep out the rain and leaves, while still letting light into the basement."

The final piece of advice, Vanvari says, is to consider purchasing a generator. Especially for homeowners living in areas where storms occur frequently, having an alternate power source could go a long way to ensure overall safety for the home and family.

"Flood Services Canada is here for the worst-case scenarios. When disaster strikes and if your basement ever gets flooded, we offer emergency flood services and water damage restoration services that can help homeowners out of what could otherwise be a very difficult and stressful situation," Vanvari concludes.
