Leading academic healthcare institution expands relationship with Allscripts TouchWorks® EHR extension, Allscripts FollowMyHealth® patient engagement platform

CHICAGO, March 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Drexel University College of Medicine (Drexel) renewed its agreement with Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX) and the use of Allscripts TouchWorks EHR as its core electronic health record (EHR) solution. In addition, Drexel implemented the Allscripts FollowMyHealth as its patient engagement platform.

Drexel intends to leverage Allscripts solutions to help meet Meaningful Use requirements, support its mission of education and research, and continue to deliver high quality patient care for the communities it serves. Drexel's renewal extends an innovative relationship that began in 2004.

"Allscripts has been a collaborative partner with Drexel University College of Medicine," said Tish Calvarese, Chief Information Officer. "Drexel has worked to provide ways to optimize the Allscripts TouchWorks EHR to deliver exceptional care. We look forward to continuing to partner with Allscripts to address the challenges of population health management, to enhance our mission of academic medicine, and to deliver enhanced care for patients."

With more than 1,000 students, Drexel University College of Medicine educates one in every 73 medical students in the nation. Its graduate students number more than 900, and Drexel is the academic partner in the education of some 500 medical residents. Drexel's College of Medicine employs more than 400 clinical and basic science faculty.

Allscripts TouchWorks EHR is a powerful, multi-specialty ambulatory solution that offers automated clinical decision support at the point of care, a configurable clinical desktop, and approximately 800 peer-reviewed Care Guides. It is a highly customizable solution with an open architecture and efficient workflows that can help improve the patient experience.

Allscripts FollowMyHealth patient engagement platform enables convenient online access to health information. The portal, which is EHR-agnostic and can be integrated with systems across the enterprise, enables patients or family members to fill out forms, view test results, refill prescriptions, request appointments, pay bills online, and communicate with physicians.

"Drexel and Allscripts have enjoyed a long, productive and innovative collaboration," said Greg White, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Allscripts TouchWorks business unit. "We look forward to teaming up with Drexel to provide tools that help facilitate exceptional patient care and enable its efforts to train the next generation of health leaders."
