David Peña Returns to ALPFA as President of Colleges and Unversities

ALPFA to introduce new technology platform connecting students with mentors, internships and full-time jobs upon graduation

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ALPFA, the Association of Latino Professionals For America, the largest organization dedicated to empower and develop Latino leaders, created the position of President of Colleges and Universities. ALPFA named David Peña to lead the new program providing opportunities for student members to connect with mentors, internships and new career opportunities through ALPFA’s vast network of professional members, corporate partners and partner organizations.

“David will ensure we help students align their purpose, passion, and career - and then to give back as they become America's new leaders,” said Charles P. Garcia. ALPFA, Chief Executive Officer.

David returns to ALPFA, where he previously served as senior vice president of programs. He has held leadership positions in several non-profit and community organizations, including the National Hispanic Business Association, American Heart Association, Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Dental Association.

“I am honored to be working with ALPFA again and I am confident that with Charlie Garcia’s leadership we will grow our student programs empowering millions of Latinos to become great leaders of character for our nation,” Peña said.

More than 160 student chapters at colleges and universities across the country and thousands of students already benefit from ALPFA’s networking events, career building seminars and mentorship opportunities. Peña and the ALPFA leadership team will introduce an innovative technology-based platform that will ensure thousands of Latino students, mentors and employers can connect and create new growth and development opportunities.

David will be based in ALPFA’s Houston office and report to ALPFA CEO Charlie Garcia.
